Oak Lodge School provides a safe, enjoyable and caring learning environment for students to learn skills for life and prepare them well for adulthood.
The whole school vision is:
We view each child as a true ‘individual’ and as a person with their own strengths; interests and areas that they need to personally develop. Staff and governors work hard to foster a positive community atmosphere at school where an ethos of mutual respect is embedded throughout.
Our staff are dedicated, caring and experienced in supporting students aged 11 to 16 catering for a wide range of complex special educational needs. This expertise, coupled with a broad, rich curriculum, as well as a highly engaging specialist arts programme supports our students well to embed the key skills of communication, reading, writing, maths and independence. All students have access to the National Curriculum and are divided into year groups and sub-divided into smaller tutor groups. Students enjoy a variety of performance opportunities and benefit from excellent links with our diverse community beyond the school setting. Our students tell us that they like the calm atmosphere and appreciate having their own views listened to by staff.
We are very proud of our reputation as a warm, welcoming, school. Staff and governors invite close partnership working with parents, carers and multi-agency practitioners. We recognise that parents play an important role in the education of their children and as such, we welcome your support and co-operation in making your child’s time at Oak Lodge School enjoyable. We are fortunate to have regular community events and celebrations and encourage parents and carers to be involved in these aspects of school life or to discuss any concerns or issues with us (contact can be made via firstname.lastname@example.org . Please call at any time to make an appointment to see either myself or our team. We welcome the opportunity to discuss any aspect of your child’s education and general welfare.
The Oak Lodge School team are committed to best practice and the wellbeing of your child is paramount. Our experience shows us that working together with families and other professionals brings about the best progress for each child and in turn results in our students demonstrating increasingly positive attitudes to learning.
