The Oakmore Centre is based on the Oak Lodge/Applemore College Campus and is a joint provision between the two schools. The centre provides support for pupils diagnosed as high functioning Autistic or Asperger Syndrome who have very high levels of anxiety and their mental health is fragile.
The centre provides a safe, secure and nurturing environment for up to 12 pupils aged 11 to 16. Each pupil has an individualized, flexible programme that addresses their academic, social, emotional, communication and independence skills. The pupils will have access to a broad and balanced curriculum with access to a range of appropriate accreditations at Key Stage 4.
Some of the pupils will be based at the Centre for the majority of time and others will have access to Applemore College or Oak Lodge depending on the pupil's individual needs. Emphasis is placed on community involvement to enable pupils to generalise their skills into real life situations.
