Oak Lodge School Council is renowned for its ability to work in exemplary ways for the good of the school and the pupils who attend. Each tutor group nominates a representative at the beginning of the academic year. This group then work together with our head and deputy head pupils, meeting once every half term with our head teacher, Sharon Burt to put forward and discuss any suggestions brought to them by the rest of their class. Part of their role is to review the school and playground rules each year with their tutor groups and feed back to Mrs Burt.
One of our big success stories has been the request to have new play equipment. This was brought to school council; plans were discussed as a whole school project and put to the construction company who then turned pupils’ wishes into reality. The play area was opened at the beginning of September and is proving to be a great asset. Other positive outcomes have been: fencing around the football pitch, adapting the lunch menu, introduction of school blazers, more musical instruments, more outside benches as well as planning the sensory garden. We believe that the School Council will continue the good work for the benefit of all at Oak Lodge for a long time to come.
