The school’s Attendance Policy underlines the fact that regular attendance is the key to a child doing well at school and will set him or her up with good habits for later life and participation in the wider world. Attendance is monitored daily and pupil absenteeism checked promptly. We expect 95% attendance from all pupils and staff. Registration is at 8.55 a.m. and 12.50 p.m. each day. Pupils will be marked late if they arrive after 9.30 a.m. Percentage attendance is calculated for each tutor group on a weekly basis and a trophy presented to the tutor group with the highest attendance rate. At the end of each term, the tutor group with the highest attendance is given an amount of money to spend on games for the tutor group.
Parents and guardians are responsible for ensuring their child attends school regularly. If your child is away from school, please inform us on the first day of absence. The child on his/her return to school should bring a letter or note confirming the reason for the absence. Family holidays need to be taken during school holidays. Absence from school during term time affects pupils’ learning and achievements. Permission will only be given in exceptional circumstances.
