Our Democratic Voting System
Each year, in June, we hold elections to vote in Head Boy or Head Girl for the following academic year. The process begins with those wishing to be nominated putting in an application. These are read through by a selection of staff, and each pupil is interviewed by the Headteacher and a selected member of staff. Four candidates are then short-listed to go forward and begin the canvassing process. This involves designing a poster, which is distributed throughout the school, and candidate visits to all Tutor Groups, in which they put forward reasons why they are the ideal person to become Head Pupil. Candidates also give a short presentation in assembly.
Every pupil and member of staff has the right to vote, and is encouraged to do so. Voting is held in the library. The votes are counted twice and the results are announced the following day in assembly. This process gives the school a Head Pupil, a deputy Head Pupil and two Prefects.
