KS3

Some students will follow the ‘English Intervention Programme’ developing the skills of reading at word, sentence and text level (reading for meaning); crafting writing for a range of text type, purpose, and audience; and speaking and listening, where talk is used as a tool for learning.

Students can be offered a range of 1:1 or small group intervention programmes as and when necessary, tailored to their needs and progress as they move through the school.

KS4

Those students who are being entered for an entry level examination in English will follow the ‘First-step exam preparation programme’ in Year 10 and the ‘Second-step exam preparation programme’ in Year 11.  They will develop a range of active-reading strategies; develop their ability to consciously craft writing for a range of text type, purpose and audience; and they will develop their speaking and listening skills.

Students can be offered a range of 1:1 or small group intervention programmes as and when necessary, tailored to their needs and progress as they move through the school.
