Some students will follow the ‘English Intervention Programme’ developing the skills of reading at word, sentence and text level (reading for meaning); crafting writing for a range of text type, purpose, and audience; and speaking and listening, where talk is used as a tool for learning. Students can be offered a range of 1:1 or small group intervention programmes as and when necessary, tailored to their needs and progress as they move through the school. |
KS4 |
Those students who are being entered for an entry level examination in English will follow the ‘First-step exam preparation programme’ in Year 10 and the ‘Second-step exam preparation programme’ in Year 11. They will develop a range of active-reading strategies; develop their ability to consciously craft writing for a range of text type, purpose and audience; and they will develop their speaking and listening skills. Students can be offered a range of 1:1 or small group intervention programmes as and when necessary, tailored to their needs and progress as they move through the school. |
