Attendance & Absence Guidance

The school’s Attendance Policy underlines the fact that regular attendance is the key to a child doing well at school and will set him or her up with good habits for later life and participation in the wider world. Attendance is monitored daily and pupil absenteeism checked promptly. Registration is at 8.55 a.m. and 1.15 p.m. each day. Percentage attendance is calculated for each tutor group on a weekly basis and a trophy presented to the tutor group with the highest attendance rate. There are further rewards each half term for tutor groups and individuals with excellent attendance.

Studies show that absence from school during term time affects pupils’ learning and achievements, and as parents and guardians you are responsible for ensuring your child attends school regularly. If your child is away from school for any reason, please inform the school office on the first day of absence.

To contact the school office please call 02380 847213, email reception@oaklodge.hants.sch.uk or complete the below absence form.

Family holidays need to be taken during school holidays. If your child needs to be out of school for any other reason, permission must be sought in writing and will only be given in exceptional circumstances. Absence request forms are available from the school office.
